The Izu Trail Journey 2014

March 16, 2014

Still new but well recognized by Japanese serious racers

The Izu Trail Journey is a scenic trail race going across four major regions within Shizuoka Prefecture’s Izu Peninsula. The race is produced by Tsuyoshi Kaburaki who also successfully produced UTMF (Ultra Trail Mt. Fuji) since 2011.

The Izu Trail Journey is organized by the local people as part of an effort to boost sustainable development of these rural areas. The beautiful area is very popular even amongst the Japanese and last year almost 90% of the participants came from outside of Izu.

The Izu Trail Journey race committee has decided to allocate a limited number of race slots for international racers from other countries next year. This is the very first step towards making this an international race in the future!

Since the race is still new and one of many local trail running races in Japan, you have to expect that all the information about the race is provided in Japanese. Even its official website is written in Japanese without official translation in other languages!

However, the race is still worth running to enjoy varied trails with beautiful sceneriers in Izu Peninsula and well-cared support by local people.

Avid Adventures Japan, together with the race organizer, will help you join the race safely and smoothly. You can obtain necessary information about the race in English from us, and we are happy to answer to your questions if any.
