IMPORTANT ADVICE regarding "GOLDEN WEEK":
The 2019 UTMF race dates coincides with "Golden Week"- one of Japan's longest holidays (Apr. 27 - May 6). Hotels, trains and buses get booked up quickly and roads/highways will be very congested! We strongly advise that you make your reservations early and leave yourself enough time for travel during the UTMF race weekend.
We recommend that you arrive into Kawaguchiko by at least Wed, Apr. 24 or Thu, Apr. 25 and complete racer check-in on Apr. 25 to avoid the stress of very crowded lineups on race day (Apr. 26)
We recommend that you stay the night of Sun, Apr. 28 after the race and checkout on Mon, Apr. 29 so that you can shower, sleep and enjoy the AVID Barbeque Party in Kawaguchiko after the race!
Starting this year, Avid Adventures also plans to provide an optional special MT. FUJI and hot spring tour on Monday (Apr 29) and an optional traditional full course Japanese "Kappo" dinner at Nagahama Ryokan with an extra night stay.
Note - you can only hike up to the top of the mountain during the July and August months when there is no snow. The tour will be taking you up for a short but AMAZING hike near the 5th station (half way up Mt. Fuji).
Plan on at least 4 - 5 hours (including bus/train transfers) to get to/from the Narita or Haneda Airports to Kawaguchiko.
Travel time to/from Narita Airport to Shinjuku Station (Tokyo): 1 hour to 1.5 hours
Travel time to/from Tokyo to Kawaguchiko: 2.5 hours to 3 hours
Travel time to/from Haneda Airport to Kawaguchiko: 2.5 hours to 3 hours
There are frequent highway bus services available between Tokyo (Shinjuku) and Kawaguchiko throughout the day.

Kawaguchiko (Lake Kawaguchi) is located in Yamanashi Prefecture about 2.5 - 3 hours west of Tokyo. This is where the UTMF finish line is located. The actual start/finish line is in a local park called Ohike Kouen (Ohike Park) just east of the 707 bridge.
Kodomono-kuni (shown on the map as 富士山こどもの国） is a large recreation park in Shizuoka Prefecture. The UTMF start line is located inside this park. Kodomono-kuni is about a 3 - 4 hour drive from Tokyo and about an hour drive from the UTMF finish line in Kawaguchiko. There are very few accommodation facilities near Kodomono-kuni and is also very long bus ride from the nearest train station.
